Buy a T-shirt, save a bridge

The design is at the printers! We chose a long sleeve and will get shirts out to our donors as soon as they’re finished. We apologize for the delay.

What’s next?

  • Watts Mill Road Bridge: awaiting final signatures, then we start the Preservation Plan. Exciting! PennDOT funding, and an MOA signed with Beaver County for final ownership.
  • Long Shoals Bridge: awaiting KDOT’s decision on TAP funding. This little town of 8,500 needs our help with a $1.3 million project.
  • Hayden Bridge: anonymous donations are finishing this bridge. Planks went in in October and ASF Ironworks is installing the railing. Opening 2019.
  • Craighead Bridge

Previous fundraisers

Save a bridge, maybe see the Boss

Andy DeGruchy won the special “What’s Next? Buy a T-shirt, Save a Bridge” shirt with tickets to see Springsteen on Broadway on Halloween 2018: 12th row center at the Walter Kerr Theatre, with a New York City walking bridge tour with our friend Hanna Griff-Sleven and Julie Bowers (the High Line, Washington Heights and the Lower East Side) and a picnic lunch from Katz’s Deli.

R. V. Bowers Bridge Preservation Fundraiser

August 23rd, 2018 would have been my father R. V. (Dick) Bowers’ 100th birthday. He was President of our board for several years during the early days of saving our Poweshiek County, Iowa bridge. His granddaughter Laran now serves as President of the North Skunk River Greenbelt Association. For his birthday we launched a fundraiser for our next nine years of preserving heritage bridges. Any donation is great, and there are several areas we’re trying to fund:

01

Investment account

For risk mitigation. Its interest would pay for site security and maintenance at our heritage bridge parks.

02

Unrestricted support

Insurance, craftsmen, engineers and steel prices all keep rising. Not sexy at all, but it’s the foundation we build our successes on.

03

Heritage bridge parks

Craighead Bridge is starting fundraising for master masonry, ironwork and a new deck. Hayden Bridge is getting set for planks and railing.

04

Adopt a bridge

Several bridges need $8,000–$10,000 site visits. Earmark your gift for one, and the engineer and craftsman will deliver real numbers for decision-making.

Other ways to give: mail a check to NSRGA, PO Box 332, Grinnell, IA 50112; call 641.260.1262 and we’ll run your card; or give through PayPal or Facebook. We also have a brokerage account, so if stocks are your thing we can take your donation and save you capital gains.

Thank you for being here on our page. Invite your friends. We’re going to keep having as much fun as we can.
